I was born in the far north, a place some like to call the uppermost corner of the map. That would be the town of Baia Mare, Maramures County, Romania. And this was a place that really had all 4 seasons. Winter was the real thing, bringing an abundance of snow and freezing cold to match back when I was growing up.
My passion for the mountains and for sports began early in my life, as my parents did the right thing (which I’m grateful for) and took me along on their mountain hikes regardless of the season. I may or may have not wanted it myself, but I ended up joining a sports club anyhow and, in all fairness, that could only benefit a child who, due to excess energy, tended to get into trouble more often than not.
Once adulthood took over, a time came for me when I sort of forgot about working out and spending time in the mountains and about what really mattered – the simple things, respect for everything around us and the joy of seeing the sun in the morning.
On the one hand, I became more than familiar with certain parts of Romania, where I genuinely feel like home; on the other hand, I ended up living in Austria and began becoming familiar with parts of this country that are excellent for mountain biking, road cycling, skiing or trekking, places that haven’t been marketed as such either in Romania or in other countries.
And since I spend so much time in the mountains, either hiking or riding my bike or skiing, it was only natural that I would get the idea of setting up a company for those who wish to explore nature, as well as for those who, during previous attempts to climb the highest mountains, suffered traumatizing injuries that now prevent them from further enjoying their hobbies; especially for them we’ll be setting up a post-traumatic psychological counselling service.
To experience nature at its best I suggest a different approach, one that won’t have you checking off standard must-sees or doing things according to a plan set in stone or racing to meet strict deadlines. Ultimately what’s required is our own determination to make it to the summit, to reach our destination, but equally important is making it back safe and sound.
So it’s time to get moving and embark together on a journey that will take us to the highest summits.
In the end, I’m merely a guy who passionately loves nature, who goes through life with only a handful of excellent friends, who greatly enjoys outdoor activities and who is always trying to discover those little things that make life worth living.
